Faces of Evil, originally released as hardcover format, is now available in paperback. The price, therefore, has also been dramatically reduced. I encourage those that have yet to journey through the gritty atmosphere of a forensic sketch artist to see, first hand, what I have spent my life doing - catching criminals with my drawings.

Lois Gibson is at it again. Her new class at Northwestern University will be July 20 - 24, 2009. The class has been a success in the past with many students able to take practical experience away from it (Comments). A little unidentified murdered girl was found on a remote sand bar of Galveston Island on October 29, 2007. Lois Gibson was brought in to create an image from the severely decomposed remains in an effort to discover her identity. Gibson used a photo of her daughter, Tiffany, at about the same age as the murdered girl and drew the clothes in which the body was found on that image. The two drawings were released to the world-wide media November 2. On November 5, Sherly Sawyers of Mentor, Ohio, the grandmother of two-year-old Riley Ann Sawyers, called Galveston Police wondering if it was her grandaughter. Soon it was determined that the mother, Kimberly Trenor, who recently moved to Texas with Riley, was involved in the little girl's death along with her husband, Royce Clyde Zeigler. On December 1, 2007, a DNA match confirmed Riley Ann Sawyers was indeed the little murdered girl. Trenor, 19 and Ziegler, 24, are both held on $350,000 bail with charges pending.

Lois is at it again, but instead of putting someone behind bars, she is helping an elderly man, Glenn McDuffie, of Houston to get some closure on the famous Kissing Sailor picture from the cover of Life magazine. McDuffie just turned 80, and after many years of trying to prove he is the man in the photo, Lois has stepped up to confirm what he has known for many years. A new category, Facial Reconstruction, has been placed under Gallery. The gallery includes two victims that were recreated from skeletal remains. Lois has dedicated some of her time to reconstructing the faces of individuals whom's identity is unknown. From the reconstruction, the authorities are able to release photos of the victim to viewers in the hopes of identifing a victim that may otherwise never be. Check it out!

A woman who fled a bloody regime in Cambodia with her husband, only to see him slan in their Baytown doughnut shop for $20, cried and hugged her daughters Thursday after the killer was sentenced to life in prison. "Justice has been served," said Mon Meach. "But nothing can bring my husband back." (Houston Chronicle, Staff, 04-27-07) Lois' sketch, done immediately after the killing, prompted a patrol officer to recognize Jarrett Driver, the killer, as he walked down the street days after the murder. Lois received a letter of commendation from the Baytown Police for her work on the case.

Pineville, Louisiana declared March 23, 2007, Lois Gibson Day! The Mayor's secretary skimmed Lois' book "Faces of Evil" just to understand it a little. She couldn't put it down and wouldn't give it to the mayor. In fact, she insisted on coming to the luncheon and giving the proclomation to Lois herself. Lois was in town to help promote long-term transitional housing to help women escape abusive domestic partners and realistically start a new life. Lois was the key-note speaker at two fund-raisers on March 22 and 23.

Lois Gibson's new text book titled Forensic Art Essentials will be out December 2007. Published by Elsevier Academic Press, this textbook will be an in-depth explanation of how to draw faces from the descriptions of traumatized witnesses. Lois will also explain how to do age progressions, facial reconstructions from skeletal remains, and much more. This book will have more than 350 illustrations to better explain how to be a successful forensic artist.
